This week’s Supreme Court decision has unleashed the Trump Administration to continue the illegal mass firings of federal workers while lawsuits are under review. This temporary decision will cause permanent and serious harm to the American public. While the Supreme Court has taken away the protections we relied on, they cannot take away the power of our voices and collective action.
“Now is the time to double down on unity and organizing, to apply public pressure to protect the essential government services that federal workers deliver,” said Paul Osadebe, a civil rights attorney with Housing and Urban Development, member of AFGE, and organizer with the FUN. “With more than 100,000 federal workers estimated on forced administrative leave and the impending threat of even more firings, our nation is barreling towards a series of dangerous public emergencies.”
Federal workers swore an oath to protect everyone—not just the wealthy and powerful. Trump and a handful of oligarchs are trying to steal public services and hand them over to corporations that will squeeze more money out of working families.
We’re not standing down. Veterans, teachers, health care workers, and civil servants are coming together, demanding accountability, and calling on the public to fight back with us.
